Title:
Martha Meets Maxi

Martha is a famous dog who ate alphabet soup and talks. Martha is going to Hollywood to be a star in a movie about a talking dog.

At noon Martha wanted a taxi to go to a hotel to sleep. Maxi, the dog from Taxi Dog, was in the taxi!

Martha and Maxi became friends. Then Jim the taxi driver stopped for donuts.

A stranger with a big mole on his face broke into the taxi and drove the taxi to San Diego. The stranger was a taxi driver, too. Martha and Maxi were scared and barking a lot. The stranger got annoyed and angry.

Jim finished his donut and went outside but the taxi was gone.  Jim called 911.  The police came and took Jim in the car with the sirens on.

Meanwhile Martha and Maxi were still talking and barking and the driver was crazy.  The police tracked the taxi to San Diego.  Within a few hours they found the taxi and arrested the driver.

Jim saw Maxi and Martha.  Jim got upset because he knew he should have taken them into the donut store. Jim learned an important lesson about not leaving animals in the car.

Suddenly TV reporters came with the cameras. Now Maxi and Martha were on TV and in the movies.  The title of their move was “Maxi and Martha, Safety Dogs.”

Maxi and Martha ate alphabet soup and they both said, “Never leave your pet in a car.”

Title: Harold's Adventure

Hello! I’m Harold, a dog. Chester, a cat, and I just solved the Bunnicula Mystery. It was very tiring! I had just dozed off, when I found myself parachuting into the jungle. I fell into a swamp filled with alligators and snakes. I walked out quickly because I was not in the mood to be bitten or eaten alive!

As I walked, I met a monkey.  I told him who I was and asked him what he was doing.  He invited me into his tree house for lemonade and to watch a movie.  Was I surprised to see a flat screen TV set and lemonade served to me? You bet!! Other animals joined us.  It was dark when the movie ended.  I was getting ready to leave, when the monkey said, “Oh no! If you go out at night the lion might eat you!” I spent the night listening to jungle sounds---birds singing, monkeys chattering, gnats buzzing and lions roaring. I found myself shivering and scared. I wanted to go home!

I climbed down and tried to find a way back.  I heard the roar of a lion behind me. I ran fast and looked for a tree to climb.  The lion was snapping at my heels! I climbed as high as I could! As the lion was about to catch me, I fell! When I woke up, I expected to see the lion eating me.  But to my relief, I was safe at home. Thank goodness!

My Life as a Hawk

Hi, I am Jaciel, a hawk. I was hatched in Oaxaca, Mexico. My Mom and Dad showed me how to fly high and fast.  My Dad showed me how to grab little animals with my claws.

I stayed in Oaxaca for five months.  Once I saw this strange, big animal that was standing on its legs I thought it was a man. I flew closer and saw it put an arrow in a bow.  My Dad had told me about that.  When I flew away an arrow whizzed past me.  I felt really scared.  Then a second arrow flew by me. I got angry.  I grabbed the third arrow and dove down at the man.  I threw the arrow at him and he ran away.

I told my Dad what had happened to me.  He was glad I could take care of myself.  Then he said that our family was going to fly to L.A. We flew there. I saw cars, people and tall buildings.  It was different and more exciting than Oaxaca.

The next day water was falling from the sky.  My Dad told me that he had never seen it before. We asked other hawks about it.  They said it was rain.  I told them that it was hot, dry and sunny and that it never rained in Oaxaca.  It felt fresh after the rain.

When my parents told me that we were going back home, I told them that I wanted to finish school here and be with my friends.  They said O.K, so we’re staying. I am happy.

Title: The Story of Beep

Have you ever seen a pelican mixed with a sheep? Well, that’s what I am.  I’m a “Beep.”

I come from the extreme sports planetx (ESPX).  I have a break like a pelican, four legs, wooly white, read and gold fur, black eyes and feather wings that beat faster than a hummingbird.

On my planet I am a famous basketball player.  I shoot with my beak and bounce the ball with my legs.  I love the game a lot! I am going to tell you a story about my trip to earth.

I traveled to earth defying gravity, because I had to get away from my stubborn parents, who wouldn’t let me do anything, we were stubborn with each other, and never worked to share like a family.  When I got there, I tried out for the ABA (Animal Basketball Association). I got on the team.  The coach thought I was great. I was named ABA MVP after running through all the drills. I learned not to hog the ball or always get my way.  The fans loved me and chanted “go Beep!”.

I decided to go back to ESPX to my family and fans.  I told them my adventures. I said I would be nice now, and not so stubborn. “We believe you, Beep”, they said.

I learned not to be stubborn, because I won’t have friends, friends need others to care for them, and not someone that wants to have their way all the time.  The other animals watched me make up with my parents.

Then the chant started, “go Beep, goooooo Beeeeeep!”

Title: A Search with a Best Friend

Once upon a time, in Africa, there lived a panther named Rafael.  He had a toy named Smoochie-ball.  It was a yarn-ball that he had since he was an infant.  Rafael woke up one day in a panic.  He could not find Smoochie-ball.  What could have happened to it???

Rafael decided to ask his good friend, Annie, the giraffe to help him find his yarn-ball.  Annie answered back, “Sure I will, because you are my best friend.” And off they went on their search.

Now, what do we know about CATS? We know that they have excellent eyesight.  And, what do we know about GIRAFFES? We know that they have very long necks, so they can see things that shorter animals can’t see.  So-o-o-o-o, Rafael & Annie should make a pretty good team in finding the yarn-ball toy.

Annie and Rafael saw Smoochie-ball at the same time.  It was with an eagle named Oscar, who was playing with it in his nest.  Rafael approached Oscar and said, “That’s my Smoochie-ball.” Oscar asked, “What’s a Smoochie-ball?” Rafael replied, “It’s my yarn-ball toy, and I would like it back, please. I’d also like to know why you took it?” Oscar told him, “Because I was so lonely.  I had no one and nothing to play with.” The panther and the giraffe felt sad for him and decided to play with the yarn-ball with him, and they all became very good friends.”

Title: Off to New York

One day I just couldn’t take it.  I had to go outside.  I tried my hardest to tell this family, and they wouldn’t let me.  Then they needed to go somewhere, so this was my perfect chance.  Even though they tried to keep me in, I’m a cat, and I’m skinny, so at last I was free! I didn’t want the family to catch me, so I ran.  Too bad I ran too far and got myself into an alley.  I saw this black cat.  He didn’t tell me his name.  The only thing he said was, “if you want to see something new, go all the way straight till you see boats.” I had no idea what he wanted, but I did what he said and saw lots of docking boats. I thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world.  All the other cats just saw boats.  On my way home I saw this huge ship that said it was on its way to someplace spelled N-E-W Y-O-R-K. I was just going inside for a second.  It couldn’t do any harm.  While I was looking inside and being amazed, I didn’t notice that the ship was moving. Then I heard someone saying, “Off to New York!” That’s how I knew I was going far away. I tried to jump off but I was too late.  The boat was at sea.  I hid where nobody would see me. I was excited and unhappy at the same time.
