NEW VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSIONS
Become a volunteer reading partner and read one-on-one with an elementary school student who needs a friend and mentor like you. All volunteers must attend one three-hour training session. Please review the training schedule to see which date and location work best for you. Then you can register for the training of your choice with the registration form.
LIBRARY SKILLS WORKSHOPS
This class is for parents at WoR schools and our current volunteers who have already been matched with a student. Learn how to explore the library, make valuable connections between books as well as travel through the variety of genres available with your student. This is a fun training for volunteers/parents who want to help their students use their library effectively, efficiently, and have fun in the process. ONE-TIME VOLUNTEER EVENTS
If you are interested in volunteering but do not have time for a weekly commitment with a student, volunteer for a one-time event. We need your help in a variety of events throughout the year. For example, we have an annual gift bag stuffing day. On this day, we assemble gift bags with three new books for the students in our program. The event typically runs from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at our headquarters. Lunch is provided. This is a fun activity for one or for a group. AUTHOR READING BY MARLA FRAZEE
Kidspace Children's Museum welcomes local author/illustrator Marla Frazee at 1 P.M. on Saturday, June 14, to celebrate the release of her most recent picture book, A Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever. Marla is nationally celebrated for her work on several picture books, including Roller Coaster, Walk On, and Hush Little Baby, among others.
