Explore-A-Story: A Celebration of Books

The Wonder of Reading hosted its third annual "Explore-A-Story: A Celebration of Books" on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.  More than 1,600 attendees came to our biggest celebration yet to help The Wonder of Reading continue to inspire in children the love of reading.  There was an array of children's book authors and illustrators, celebrity readers, engaging musical and poetry performances, and creative art activities for children, as well as delicious food, a Barnes & Noble Book Fair, a Disney Family Film Festival, and DJ Nate and the Street Team from Radio Disney!

The Wonder of Reading proudly honored The Walt Disney Company as the recipient of the 2008 Visionary Partner Award, an honor presented as a result of the company's ongoing commitment to brightening the lives of children and making a positive impact on in the greater Los Angeles community.  Chairman Dick Cook of The Walt Disney Studios accepted this honor from renowned author and actress Julie Andrews and the Honorable Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles.

The Wonder of Reading would like to thank our many sponsors, volunteers, and guests for helping make Explore-A-Story a success.  The proceeds raised from this exciting event will help bring reading resources to 203 public elementary schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area.  In addition to the support received from these valuable partners, The Wonder of Reading is also grateful to all our community supporters who continue to be committed to spreading the love of reading.
