Seeking FRIENDS!
The Wonder of Reading is seeking volunteers, whom we like to call Friends, to assist with one-time, short-term, or long-term projects and special events. We have several opportunities for you and always want to welcome new talent! So read on!
- Based on your interests, choose from a variety of projects
- Join or lead a special event committee
- Groups or individuals are welcome

Friends of The Wonder of Reading provide valuable on-site assistance at events and support the work of the program, which serves children and reading partners throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
One-time Volunteer Events
If you have a few hours or can devote one day to helping us out, these events are for you! Volunteer on your own or as a group. We have many one-time events where we can use your support. To register for one of these events, please contact Lisa Miller as directed below.

These events are ideal for corporate teams, church or civic groups, college student clubs, etc.
On-going Volunteer Projects
If you are unable to volunteer for any of the above-listed events but are interested in volunteering for a few hours with a great organization, please give us a call! The Wonder of Reading has many opportunities for people to gain special event, marketing, and public relations experience. College students are especially welcome! We need volunteers to help us with the following:
- Public Relations: sending out press releases, mailing holiday and birthday cards, preparing invitations and programs, preparing program brochures for theatre promotion
- Volunteer Program: assembling training packets, preparing volunteer-student match packets, making reminder phone calls to training registrants
- Newsletter: assembling newsletter packets for mailing
- Special Committees: Reading Celebration Planning Council
